The wonders of the internet… 44,936 people can watch you make an ass of yourself and you don’t even know about it!
John Oak Dalton found this clip on YouTube, which I honestly had no idea existed. It’s a very surreal experience to click on a link and see scenes from your movie and clips of yourself talking crazy. But it’s also a flashback to a very beautiful and crazy time. This segment was shot for an Austin public access television show the night of our Austin screening. I had been up for about three days straight fine tuning things for the screening. About thirty minutes prior, I was outside the theater pacing and smoking when a friend arrived and offered some pharmaceuticals to help calm my nerves. However, I won’t use the lack of sleep and pharmaceuticals as an excuse for my insecure ramblings in this clip. The interesting thing is that I was much more conflicted and apologetic about the movie back then, whereas now, I am really proud of it.
These interviews were conducted in the lobby of the Dobie Theater. In the background you can see Emma selling t-shirts and my brother walking around. The weekend of this screening was one of the most vivid in my life. Only hours later, we were drinking at the Dog and Duck Pub… running red lights… getting pulled over by the police… faking our way through drunk driving tests … buying lap dances for Jessica at the Yellow Rose… eating pancakes at Magnolia Cafe… throwing up in parking lots … the party carried over to the next day when certain individuals got inked with Sex Machine tattoos… good times.
